Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2021

Back

Appellation : CHABLIS Premier Cru

Climate : Fourchaume

Vintage : 2021

Location: The 1er Cru La Fourchaume stretches over almost 4 km on the road linking Maligny to Chablis.

Where it got its name from: "Fourche" means "Fork" for crossroads or gibbet, one of the two possible origins of this name Climat is less sinister than the other!

Characteristics

Grape variety : Chardonnay

Terroir : Quite deep soil, composed of brown clays on draining subsoil (Kimmeridgian limestone)

Aspect: South-west

Tasting notes :

Visual: pale golden colour

Nose: A direct nose with aromas of golden citrus and a smal fram of barrel notes

Palate:  Incisive with a beautifully mineral – growing both intensity and salinity.

Practical guidelines :

Food/wine matches: Top-quality fish (monkfish, sole or turbot), either meunière or with a cream sauce, white meat (poultry or veal).

Present and future: As a product of its terroir, this young wine is still keeping its guard up. Wait a couple of years for the barrel to fade, it will be ideal for tasting when it has been aged for around 3 years. It will keep for between 8 and 10 years.
